The last couple of nights we've had a spectacular super moon rising. Unfortunately I didn't get the shot I was chasing due to some clouds in the wrong spot. But while I was down at bells doing some test shots for the next full moon, someone came up to me after seeing me run down the beach 10 minutes after sunset and say, your a bit late what are you trying to shoot? The full moon, keep your eye over there on the horizon. After taking a few shots he's asked if he could get a shot with his mate that he hardly sees and hasn't seen for a lot time. I said you had better get down the other end off the beach as the moon will be gone behind those clouds in under a couple of minutes. So off they ran. I managed to capture the moment of the two old mates enjoying reuniting surrounded by earths beauty. There's no better time than now if the moment is there empresses it before it goes as that moment may never happen the same again, if at all

As many of you know, I've been chasing a photo down at bells beach for a few months now of a full moon rise. Last week we didn't have the clearest sky's for the blood moon but the night after was perfect for the photo I've been planing! It's was a incredible night well worth the months of trial and waiting. We also had an encounter with a little wallaby who came to watch the moon rise too... but that story and photo is for another time

I could literally sit here all day but for now, it's time to fly home. What a great week it's been in cairns, from sailing out to the beautiful great barrier reef too crawling in mud through lush rainforest to see waterfalls and catching up with family and friends. Can't wait to come back! See you again soon cairns

So the last couple of nights I haven't had much in the way of sleep as the night skies have been totally clear of clouds and no moon. So I wondered up to the local observatory with my two dogs to watch the Geminid meteor shower. This time of year we can see a lot of meteors at night. Unfortunately I missed the peak event of the meteor shower on Wednesday (sky was totally covered with clouds all night) but the last couple have been nice and clear, so a good time to get out and get lost in space
